Day 3: Legoland Windsor

Joey and I were really looking forward to day 3 because we had been keeping a secret for quite some time from Joseph (and James :)

On top of the big surprise of Legoland, we were meeting our friends the Allens, who were also on holiday in England. The kids were pumped!!
This was the boys first time in a real theme park and they were really excited about the day. We rode a train to the first attractions.

Joseph wasn't too excited about some of the dark, inside things to see so we did the ferris wheel and the merry-go-round to get the day started.

There were two roller coasters in the park: a scarier one for older kids and this smaller one that still picked up some speed. The nice attendant rode with Joseph while I took pictures :)
For lunch, we stopped off at Mini Land. It's a whole area made up of world landmarks built out of legos. There were moving cars, boats and trains and so much to see!

After our picnic lunch, we headed towards the Duplo Valley and to ride on the helicopters. You could move the controls to make the helicopters go up and down and spin around.
.
A favorite was definitely driving school. James got to go on the smaller one for ages 3-5. He spent most of the first part turning into curbs and being helped by the attendant. He got the hang of it by the end and loved driving his little blue car! He even got a license. Yikes!!

Since Joseph had just turned 6, he got to drive on the older course. He was a focused, law abiding driver and took his job very, very seriously!!

One of our favorite rides was the submarine. You step into a boat that is partly underwater and get to see a real aquarium with fish, sharks and sting rays.

All James' hopes and dreams came true when he had the chance to operate his very own digger. Joey helped him man the controls and they scooped up rocks and dumped them into the container.

The Dads joined the kids in the Firefighter Academy. They split into groups and worked to move the firetruck towards the "burning" building. Then, everyone hopped out and worked to pump water and spray the building until it was time to race back to the start.

Before the park closed, we headed to the last showing of the Pirate Show. The kids laughed and cheered as they watch the silly pirates try to get their treasure chest back with lots of slapstick humor and water stunts.

Joseph couldn't wait to pose with one of his favorites: Lego Chima

Our final ride was the Sky Rider. It was a nice slow ride in lego rockets where you could see a great view of the entire park.

We watched some clips from Lego Star Wars and posed with C3PO before heading home after a full day at Legoland.

We had a blast from opening to close and were grateful for a fun time together at Legoland!
