East Neuk, the Old Course and gardens

Since we had the car for the weekend, we decided to take the opportunity to show Gran and Granddaddy some fishing villages that are just a quick drive from St. Andrews. We stopped at Crail first and went to the lovely Crail Pottery Store. Then, we walked to a beautiful view of the shore.
Gran and Granddaddy watched from the top while the boys explored. Like most things, it ended in a good race back up the hill.

After Crail, we drove to Pittenweem. We stopped at the Cocoa Tree. Almost every person that I have talked to that has visited Pittenweem has raved about their hot chocolate.  It did not disappoint!  After that, we walked down to the harbor to look around.

There was a row of houses next to this inlet that backed up to the sea. Between the houses, you could walk down to the water. I took a picture of what that homeowner sees when he or she steps out in the morning. Not a bad view!!

On Monday night, we went out to eat at Rocca at the Russack's hotel. Joey and I went here with a groupon deal on my birthday. However, with the early sunset, we couldn't see the amazing view that we knew was just outside our window. So, we booked a table with my parents by the window and enjoyed the late summer sun while watching golfers finish up on the Old Course.
the Royal and Ancient
golfers were still finishing up past 10pm

Since Gran is an avid gardener, we wanted to make sure she saw some Scottish gardens in bloom.  Despite the cooler weather here, different flowers are in bloom from May to August.  With the St Andrews Botanical Gardens right next to Joseph's school, it was easy to pop over with Joseph and James right after school on Tuesday.
