Joseph's 7th Birthday!

And just like that, Joseph turned 7. We had his party at our house again and had a beautiful day for a Lego Castle themed party. We decided to keep it small this year and went with an all-boy party. It was a perfect day to celebrate our sweet Joseph!

When the boys arrived, we decorated cardboard shields. I was glad that they enjoyed this little arts and craft moment and took such pride in their creations.
We had inflatable (pirate...shhh!) swords and other toy swords and they spent probably half the party just play fighting outside. I could have let them do this the entire time, served some cake and then sent them on their way. So fun seeing them just be boys and have a good time! We did have other games planned so at some point we broke up the pretend battle.

Our first game was a grand pinterest find of "Pin the fire on the Dragon". It was such a simple game but they LOVED it. I couldn't get over how hilarious they thought it was to watch each other put the flame in a silly spot.
Joseph dreamt up a catapult game so we stacked some boxes and let them use their arm to catapult the ball into the tower. So simple but they thought it was great!

Happy Birthday to Joseph!!
For our last game, we played the traditional Scottish party game of Pass the Parcel. The boys passed the present and then unwrapped a layer whenever the music stopped. The final person got to take home a small gift. Plus, there were lots of mini gifts of sweeties along the way!
Joseph's actual birthday was the next week and we celebrated with pumpkin pancakes (in our Christmas pjs...ha! We might be a little seasonally confused over here.) Joseph took cupcakes to school and opened his presents when he got home that afternoon. Then, we went out to dinner in town to finish off a fun day of celebration!
